Job Description:
(4-9 years construction law experience is required) - Boca
Raton, FL
Our law firm is positioned as Florida's Premier Residential
Construction Law Firm for Homeowners. We help homeowners before,
during, and after their custom home builds and major home
renovation projects. We provide advice, guidance, and contract
drafting services to homeowners before projects. We provide ongoing
advice and guidance as a Renovation Concierge during projects. We
provide fixed-fee pre-litigation services to homeowners when their
projects go sideways in terms of time, money, and quality of work.
We provide litigation services in only a select few instances. This
is a niche within the construction law niche that we are currently
set to dominate through value-added services and creative billing
models. We also represent a select group of contractors with their
contracts and collections/lien issues.
The firm is on track for aggressive growth,--and we need an
experienced, full-time associate attorney to join our team to
spearhead these legal services.
The role involves client contact, supervising and directing the
work of legal assistants and contract attorneys (when necessary),
negotiating on behalf of homeowners with contractors or other
lawyers, dealing with various regulatory agencies, and drafting
construction contracts. Our clients have very real-life problems
that affect their living situations at home and come to us to help
resolve their problems swiftly. So, our goal is to resolve their
issues promptly and not drag them through time-consuming, costly
litigation.
Our office is in East Boca Raton. This position can be filled by a
Florida-licensed attorney working in person, remotely, or hybrid.
If you live within driving distance of our office, you will be
expected to work in-office or hybrid.
When you apply, include a cover letter explaining what attracts you
to this position. Submissions without a cover letter will not be
considered.
Responsibilities:
--- Communicating empathetically with emotional, non-institutional
clients in need of valuable, real-life guidance with issues of
great importance to them
--- Reviewing a client's issues on legal matters, analyzing
available options, and diligently working to determine the best
course of action
--- Resolving the clients' issues as promptly and efficiently as
possible.
--- Leading the firm's litigation practice through discovery,
depositions, mediation, etc.
--- Guiding homeowners through issues common to major renovation
projects, including issues relating to payments, timing, and
quality of work
--- Drafting construction contracts for owners, contractors, and
subcontractors.
--- Guiding contractors through day-to-day contract, lien, and
payment issues
Qualifications:
--- You must be licensed in Florida with 4 to 9 years of
construction law experience, which includes experience with
residential construction disputes and contract drafting.
--- Your substantive knowledge includes, and you have experience
with, all of the following: legal issues at the heart of the
owner-contractor-subcontractor relationships, disputes between
homeowners and contractors, construction liens, and drafting
construction contracts
--- You are a professional and are comfortable being held
accountable to performance metrics (not just billable hours)
--- You are empathetic, yet can have tough conversations with
clients
--- You are a strong negotiator
--- You are an excellent writer who knows how to present arguments
succinctly and persuasively in letters and motions
--- You have a growth mindset and value your happiness and
fulfillment
--- You are savvy with technology
--- You take pride in accuracy and attention to detail
--- You are hungry to demonstrate your talent and value to the firm
and the firm's clients in an enterprisingly managed,
growth-oriented law firm environment that rewards bottom-line
results with advancement and increased earning opportunities
--- Ability to generate clients within the firm's niche will be
rewarded
